This project originally started while I was trying to do a good camera projection, but as I continued working on it I improvised it and it turned out to be something else entirely.
My first steps were doing a simple camera projection in nuke.
In my household there is a ritual of performing ‘Havan’. It is a form of offering prayers to god in hinduism. The Process Includes offerings to god which are made through consecrated fire. While Attending the same, I always used observe the flames and its surroundings. That is where the inspiration for improvising the project came from.
So, I started creating the re from a 2D fire element downloaded online. Incorporating and Integrating it bit by bit, according to the environment.
I needed to give the fire a reason to be there in the first place. So, I decided to put up a character that might have caused the fire. Hence, I downloaded a 3D model of a Robot which was rigged and ready for animating. Then I animated the Robot which was sort of like a Robo Dog. I did the animation, refined the textures a bit and did the lighting in 3DS Max.
Lastly, I rendered the Robo and brought it back on Nuke to integrate it with the fire and in the scene using various techniques and multipass compositing.
