History of Consumption Infographic
Alisa is passionate about making collages and enjoys experimenting with layouts. She has incorporated some of those ideas in her assignment for the Consumption & Society module led by Dr. Prof. Sheila Malone. In the
University of Galway's MSc. Digital Marketing course, Alisa has been able to push the boundaries of what can be considered as an infographic.
Alisa dissected the chapters of 'The Oxford Handbook of the History of Consumption' by Frank Trentmann as her main source of information. She, then, divided the topics by continent and timeline. She concluded the infographic with some wisdom from old thinkers as to why the world consumes despite it being considered a vice - simply put, where money flows, the society grows. Yet the idea of balancing it with moral duties like charity and education can help with the 'sinful' notion of consumption.
Behind all the research and educational content, was the carefully crafted imagery to complement the each recorded obsession with consumption. With the help of rawpixel.com and pexels.com, a collage was made on
Adobe Photoshop with public domain and non-copyrighted assets.
Alisa is able to craft different types of infographics, even with research heavy themes with specific briefs. Because there was no limit put on the word count and the length for this particular brief, she wanted to push the limits of what can be considered as an infographic. She was able to score the highest grade for this assignment in her batch thanks to the professors appreciation for her ingenuity.
