Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here 50th anniversary

My concept for the music illustration project is 50th anniversary release of the 1975  Pink Floyd album "Wish You Were Here". For the event, a simple visual identity set was developed, as well as series of designs for CD, vinyl and a cassette, each in a different color scheme, while keeping the same visual motives.
Typography for visual identity was kept simple and ascetic, as the goal was to keep main focus on album experimental visuals. The used fonts were BEFOIL for album title and headers, as well as Helvetica regular  for text subheaders.
Process of collage creation
Finished analogue collages
First creative searches began with experimantation in collages that were created using cut out motives from 70s-80s "National Geographic" magazine issues that were combined on colored papers, with the purpose of music to represent the created feelings visually.

Later, the scanned collages were digitally combined with crayon elements. They reflect the feeling created by the band's music. Each color symbolizes other sound or musical instrument, which together create harmony. Such combination of elements gave the possibilities to create endless graphic composition variations.
Collage pre and post digital processing
During the process of experimantation, the bright and colorful crayon motives were also used as a part of the visual identity and later turned into an animation.
Album covers "Green Edition" - made for vinyl records
Album covers "Blue Edition" - made for audio cassete tapes
Album covers "Red Edition" - made for CD's
CD copy included a booklet of several visuals, as well as song titles and credits for each of the songs off the album.
Fragments of the booklet, included in the CD copy
Use of Syd Barret pictures in the visuals wasn't adventitious, as the album was dedicated to him back in 1975 - 7 years after he left Pink Floyd, due to his deteriorating mental health.
In addition to the physical copies of the release, I created digital solutions. Analog animation was created taking every third frame from a video of Pink Floyd's 1972 live performance in Brighton, then edited by hand, in mixed media techniques. Later scanning and then assembling them consecutively in a looped clip, with the main purpose to serve as Spotify Visualizer animation.
Mixed media animation idea went well together with the concept of analogue approach for album visuals
