BOOK COVER DESIGN for
"The Ultimate Ponzi: The Scott Rothstein Story"
This project involved the creative development and design of a book cover for "The Ultimate Ponzi: The Scott Rothstein Story", a book about an outrageous and destructive ponzi scheme that took place in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
I learned the main star and culprit of the book, Scott Rothstein, was particularly proud of his ostentatious watch collection. I located a photograph of Scott posing with a number of his most expensive watches, which I prominently featured on the front cover as a perfect representation of his greed for wealth, power, and status. The watch motif is repeated throughout the design, and the color green is dominantly featured--a color that tends to elicit an unsettling feeling in the viewer when used with appropriate subject matter.
My goal was to visually illustrate Rothstein as an incredibly shifty character who cannot be trusted by combining just the right image with an agitating shade of green. The glint of light shining off the capital "P" in "Ponzi" is another nice touch, also implying wealth and excess.
