Blame it on the alcohol

Not long ago, my agent made a small recommendation for me to shift from luxurywatches and perfumes (Which don't have a lot of canadian producers) to alcohol. Broaden my horizons a bit! These images are an exploration into that.
This first image of Flor de Cana was a great experiment, learning more about lighting bottles with my background in photography, lots of light groups, and finding juuuust the right glass shaders!
This second image, I used a lot more lights, simply because of the metallic texture, and the more diverse textures and colors
It was a bit of a mess
This final render for today was an experiment with hard light, something I love playing with in my photography, but not so much in my CG work. And I gotta say... I love how this one turned out!
You can see how I built the lighting above, lightgroup by lightgroup., followed by the final post production.

Overall this spec work was really eye opening in a lot of ways. Hard light isn't so scary in CGI, glass can be done easily, and spending more time on composition than you think is necessary can REALLY pay off
