"Mera Jora" is a Bridal Dress archive book, that traces the journey of the dresses from making, to wear, and to its end. I talked to different people who have kept their "shaadi ka jora" safe to this day. What makes these dresses so special? How can a textile be intertwined with someone's story?
To begin the journey of crafting this book, I researched how bridal dresses are made in Pakistan today. What techniques and fabrics are used? How long does it take to complete a jora? I photographed the processes in an "adda" workshop where the craftsmen work on fabrics.
Collecting the dresses from the owners, I did an editorial shoot for them as well, in order to capture the details of the fabrics and the work done on them.
