Description
You may be wondering out of all the interactive products I could have made why did I choose to make a doghouse with neo pixels on the inside of it? Well the reason for this is simple, our family dog of 13 years recently passed away and was buried in our backyard. Of course most times when burying a pet most people just leave a patch of dirt on the ground that will soon be overgrown by grass which in turn will make them lose the place of the grave forever. Since our Sariyah was less like a dog and more like family I decided to make something to bring her resting place alive and mark it. I made a interactive doghouse that uses an IR remote to control the LEDs on the inside that switches between 4 different patterns. The LEDs are powered by a Arduino UNO that was coded on Arduino and the physical doghouse was made through woodworking and spray-painting. This project was meaningful to me because just being able to create something like this for the family and Sariyah just makes me so happy and gives me more purpose than I already have.
This is the rough sketches of the doghouse and the dimensions.
Since I had a little of Neo pixel Left I had to cut the wires off the end and resolder them to the other side that the current could flow correctly.
This is the wiring for the neo pixels and the IR receiver, I also soldered the Neo pixel
wire to alligator wire to be able to connect it to the Arduino.
This is just showing the foam core version of this project before the final product.
This is the finish Product in one of its patterns.
This is another one of the colors that can come from the headstone.
This is one more example of what can happen with the press of a button.
This is the storyboard for my project.
