The work 1713-2006 represents the history of the major communal riots in the state of Gujarat, seen as the epicentre of communal violence in India, in the form of a fictional archive in a museum. The bronze books mark each historical year with a single book, or with piles of books, indicating the severity of the event. The patinated bronze books are casts of the traditional ledgers commonly used in Western and North India, which are beautiful hand- stitched, cloth- bound books with decorative stitching in a variety of binding styles.
The works below were produced in Bronze for artist Pushpamala N in Baroda as an Artists Edition.
