Balance – balance creates a visually pleasing image. This gives it stability and an evenly distributed weight throughout the image
Colour is used in a design to evoke emotion in the viewer and has three properties: Hue, saturation and value
Contrast – when there is a visual difference between the components of an image.- 
Emphasis – Causes us to focus on certain components. This can be achieved through elements such as value, shape and colour-  
form is a three dimensional object that has volume and weight in an image.
Harmony means all of the individual parts of a picture work together to create a complete and unified- image- 
Line guides the readers eye through a piece and gives it a sense of direction
movement gives us the impression of life in an image. This can sometimes be used through the focal point placements.- 
Pattern is when an object is repeated, this can be planned or random. This can give a harmonious effect.- 
Rhythm adds a sense of flow and structure to a piece. This makes it more pleasing and satisfying to look at. - 

Scale and proportion is a technique to show the size of an object in comparison to another in an interesting way.
shape is a two dimensional image emphasized by contrast to the surroundings or by a line 
space is the area around or between different elements of an artwork or photo. Area with nothing is called negative space
Texture in a design makes us think about how that object would feel in real life and boosts the visual appearance
typography hooks the viewer. It involves fonts, their sizing and placement.
Unity creates harmony in a design by balancing positive and negative space. It can also be components of an image that give us the idea of connection
value/tone is the display of black, white and/or tones of grey in an image, this can create contrast
Variety shows lots of different components which creates visual interest and hooks in the viewer.- 
Volume is the space an object takes up in a design and the visual weight of it.- 
repetition is reoccurring objects that create rhythm and gives the image organisation
