Introduction and Ethics Statement

Introduction
My name is Diego Canales and I am starting by telling you a bit about me and the attributes I gained from Visual Media COMM 2034. I am currently a sophomore at Virginia Tech, majoring in Multimedia Journalism with a minor degree in Finance. My hobbies are writing about music and going to the gym. This class showed me things I never thought I could do and expanded the ways I can show my work to others through print, photography, videos, and websites. I hope you enjoy the portfolio I displayed on here!
Ethics Statement
Regarding my code of ethics in visual media, the work we do should always represent something accurate and represent the things we are trying to depict. Whether it would be the print, photo, video, or web. Following the ethics of visual media can bring a brighter light on honesty and respect for other people's work. I want to portray my work without any plagiarism and keep it accurate without plagiarizing things I'm trying to work on. It is OK to manipulate work when you are trying to depict your photo or video during the photography and video projects, but there is an element in the way of the photo or video so you can crop it out without hurting the image. I believe it's OK because it can maintain focus on what you are trying to share with the general audience when looking at the work you created during Visual Media. Visual Media work that is completely changed can show a misleading deception to others is things you should not do. It brings in a negative light and can be misaccurate what you are trying to show which can manipulate the general audience of the work being created by you. The work could misrepresent history or culture for others which is not the direction people should take when it comes to Ethics. Manipulating work can lead to a lot of consequences. Work can be claimed as defamation, dangerous towards many communities or people, and can lead to potential risk or harm to others. It can also damage the role between classmates and your teacher and when the bond is broken nothing can be fixed about it.
