Salon Solitaire
Project Description:
On a previous birthday, a close friend gifted me a wooden character display based on one of my favorite games. I loved the gift so much that I wanted to purchase more from the seller, only to discover that they only made the one my friend had given me. This led my friend and me to decide to create our own wooden character display. My role in this project was to manufacture the wooden parts and the stickers. The display, made of wood and around three to four inches in size, consists of six interlocking pieces. It is based on the popular game "Genshin Impact" and features the character Furina and her Salon Solitaire creatures. Creating this display was meaningful as it allowed me to create something related to a game I am very passionate about, while also getting to make something with a close friend.
Steps:
Step 1:
The first step involved gathering all necessary materials and which for this project only included some wood.
Step 2:
Once I had all my materials selected and my friend had finished the artwork for all the pieces, I imported the artwork into a program called Inkscape and created at an outline for all of the pieces.
Step 3:
Once all the outlines were made, I cut the six pieces which consisted of the four characters, the background panel, and the floor panel using a laser cutter. I also cut out six 0.25x1 wooden pieces that would be attached to the back of the pieces that would be used to connect them all.
Step 4:
Now that all of the pieces were cut out, I resized the artwork to fit the stickers and exported them as a pdf. Once I had the pdf ready, I printed them out and used a heat press to transfer the designs to sticker paper.
Step 5:
Now that my stickers were ready the last step was assembly. For this step I cut and placed all of the stickers on their matching wooden pieces and glued the 0.25x1 wooden stands to the back of all the pieces. Once these actions were finished, I placed all of the characters, and the display is finished.
