Challenge: Birk Design, a new Ethiopian design company, sought to establish a brand identity that reflected the country's vibrant culture and heritage. The company founder, Helara Tesfaye, envisioned a brand that resonated with a global audience while celebrating Ethiopian traditions. However, they lacked a cohesive visual language and brand elements to communicate this vision effectively.

I embarked on a comprehensive brand development process, focusing on:
Understanding the Essence of Ethiopia: Extensive research delved into Ethiopian history, art forms, and cultural symbols. This research provided a foundation for developing a brand identity that was authentic and respectful of Ethiopian heritage.
Concept Development & Naming: Brainstorming sessions explored various concepts that captured the essence of Ethiopian design. The name "Birk" (meaning "light" in Amharic) was chosen to evoke a sense of creativity and illumination.
Logo Design: Inspired by traditional Ethiopian textiles and geometric patterns, the logo embodied the brand's connection to its cultural roots. The final design was modern, minimalist, and easily adaptable across various applications.
Visual Language & Brand Guidelines: A color palette reflecting the rich hues of Ethiopian landscapes was established. Typography choices were made to complement the logo and convey a sense of sophistication. Comprehensive brand guidelines were created to ensure consistent brand application across all touchpoints.
