Japanese Notan
Notan means "light and dark" in Japanese.

In this project students were asked to brainstorm subjects that would be appropriate to create a Japanese Notan from using black and white paper.
Step 1: Brainstorm concepts that could be used to create a Japanese Notan.

Step 2: Choose 3 of those ideas and creates 6 sketches based off of them, two for each idea.
Here are some of the sketches I made:
Sketch #1: A Fruit stand in the Rainforest
Sketch #2: A Field of Flowers with a Bright Sun
Sketch #3: People Worshipping with String Lights
Step 3: Iterate one of the six sketches with black and white paper, an exacto knife and a glue stick.

I chose my third sketch to iterate with paper.
