THE CIRCLE LINE
 The Edge Competition

TYPE: Competition
YEAR: 2024
LOCATION: White Cliffs of Dover, England

VISION

The cliffs mark the end or a beginning of a long journey, the design centers around a circular form, representing the continuous cycle of life's journeys. A ring-shaped structure is nestled into the cliffside, carved out of the chalk rock itself. Visitors walk through an opening in the circular wall and enter an open-aired atrium. Floor-to-ceiling windows offer panoramic views of the Channel.

The circular design has no beginning or end. The structure serves as a place of rest and reflection for those arriving at or departing from Dover, a historical port town and the final stop in England for many journeys. The design aims to create a sense of identity and belonging for visitor, history and people of Dover through simple forms and natural materials
