A Caatinga tem vida, cor e alegria. Embora sempre tão estigmatizada, merece representações mais vibrantes e exuberantes do que as que geralmente encontramos por aí. Em minha ilustração, tentei mostrar a riqueza e a variedade desse bioma exclusivo do Nordeste brasileiro. Na versão da Caatinga que trago na memória, a beleza prolifera.
Em meu trabalho, sempre uso elementos da nossa cultura na tentativa de fortalecer as memórias de nosso povo. Por meio da ilustração, busco recriar de maneira lúdica momentos, lembranças, signos e ícones da nossa cultura. Valorizar o que nos pertence é o primeiro passo para a consolidação de uma memória coletiva sólida.
Como parte deste esforço, também fiz uma versão sem cores da ilustração. A ideia é que nossa Caatinga possa ser colorida em salas de aula. Espero que isso contribua para o entendimento de nossa flora de maneira mais divertida. Essa ilustração está disponível gratuitamente para o uso em sala de aula. Basta imprimir o PDF e colorir. Que cada estudante tenha a liberdade de escolher as cores com que darão vida a este mundo.

The Caatinga has life, color and joy. Although it is always so stigmatized, it deserves more vibrant and exuberant representations than we usually find out there. In my illustration, I tried to show the richness and variety of this biome that is unique to the Brazilian Northeast. In the version of the Caatinga that I remember, beauty proliferates.
In my work, I always use elements of our culture in an attempt to strengthen the memories of our people. Through illustration, I try to recreate moments, memories, signs and icons of our culture in a playful way. Valuing what belongs to us is the first step towards consolidating a solid collective memory.
As part of this effort, I also made an uncolored version of the illustration. The idea is that our Caatinga can be colored in classrooms. I hope this will contribute to understanding our flora in a more entertaining way. This illustration is freely available for classroom use. Just print out the PDF and color it in. May each student have the freedom to choose the colors with which they bring this world to life.
