Image sequencing
For this project I want to experiment with the use of triptych and diptych as a way to display my working images. I plan to professionally print and frame my final images at the end of the project to frame and display. Triptych and diptych images originated from the Greek ptykhos meaning to bend, is an artwork originally made up of panels. While the panels may be used to form a single scene, they sometimes are standalone pieces that are linked through a visual similarities. As shown in the examples below.
My Images:
I wanted to start the sequencing with a diptych layout as the images can be displayed larder on the page. I started putting images together from my shoots to see which worked well together to create a successful piece. I then moved to the use of triptych images to have more detail on each page. This was more challenging as all three images had to work together.
The triptych sequence is my favourite at current and I feel like all the images work well together and help to build up a view of the are and capture its character. I will be experimenting with more triptych sequences in the future with different images.
Overall I think that these image sequences are very successful and the images work well together. I will continue to experiment with the sequencing with different images and possibly working with coloured images, this may make it more difficult to find images that work together for the sequence. I think these images would look nice printed and framed as A3 images, which is something I will be using to display my final outcomes as well as further experimenting with cyanotype processes.
