"Young Woman Gazing Outside a Window."
Medium: Vine Charcoal & Pencil
For my final project in Drawing I, I drew a young woman gazing outside the window using vine charcoal and pencils to demonstrate my experience with the medium and my knowledge of the following techniques; shading, linework, and figure anatomy. I first went in with a pencil to lightly sketch the figure of the woman, along with the setting she will be depicted in. After, I formed lighter shadows in the artwork to produce the 'soft' feel of the artwork. Lastly, I utilized vine charcoal to create the heavier shadows of the artwork along with emphasizing the linework of the subject. By doing so, I emphasized deep contrast and depth in the artwork.
