I wished  to focus on the increasing desire and demand for exotic wildlife pets due to their popularity on social media and how the human perspective sees them as “cute” and content while they are removed from their natural habitats, disconnected from their mothers at a dangerously young age, unethically bred in captivity, to the point where even if they were rescued, returning to their natural habitat would not be possible for them.

Signs of distress showcased by these animals are often misinterpreted as something adorable on social media for popularity. These animals are also declawed or defanged to make them safer to humans despite biologically wired to not interact in such ways with humans. These processes are also painful for the animals.

Some of the most popular exotic pets on social media include Big Cats,Axolotl, Slow Lorises, Fennec Foxes, and Marmosets.

I decided to create a satirical fictional circus scenario where the roles are reversed in a manner that the circus is for animals, not humans, and it exists to make good performers out of these animals instead of seeking for an audience, to fit exactly into human narratives about them. It is intended to be a commentary on how animals are greatly commodified and expected to perform as humans without proper knowledge of caretaking of these animals expect them to.

The circus is intended to come out with new issues every month with tickets for several animals who have fallen victim to human narratives with satirically framed appealing opportunities on how to please humans.
