Life in Miniature
A Visual Communication Project
Greenside Design Center

Introduction
This project isn’t an ordinary toy photography project, but rather one that give us endless possibilities to portray any story we want. Tapping into our childhood vision, this project aims to teach us to get creative in creating stories through a series of four to six scenes while using toys as actors to narrate our story.

This project requires close attention to how actors are composed, along with lighting knowledge and correct stage setting. This project taught me the power of creating my own world through small toys, and creating resources where I needed to.

One does not need a DSLR camera to capture beautiful photos. I used my Samsung A53 smartphone to take all the photos seen in this project. Each photo was carefully taken through various settings that needed adjustments of the phone’s ISO, zoom and shutter settings.

Storyboards
The spirit wanders aimlessly, criticizing himself over his failures, he begins to realize that he is not actually dead / not permanently dead and can climb back into his body and live again. The spirit takes hold of his flesh again and becomes triumphant, breaking out of his grave to live again.

In “Rebirth” narratives, the protagonist experiences a massive transformation, often spurred by a realization or event that changes their perspective or lifestyle.

This plot type often appears in drama and fantasy genres.

Extended Scenes

As someone who loves photography, this project was incredibly fun to do. I do wish I had the finances to do more than this, but I did what I could. I would have loved to accomplish more with this project, there are many things I envisioned but could not capture the exact same feeling I see in my head but I think that may be due to inexperience with this kind of project.

Because of the limited amount of scenes I do wish I could submit my longer scenes as my final, but I am happy to still show that before the final 6.

Overall I do feel this project was successful and captured the idea I was trying to portray symbolically.

Thank you!
