Dunnit App Design

Creative Brief
Dunnit is a task manager / productivity app that helps people quickly organise their time and complete goals with the help of categories, calender views and gamification. This is app design was created so that I could gain experience creating a more complex UI/UX design project – and make a working app prototype. All of the visual assets were made with Adobe Illustrator. This was my second app design using Adobe XD.
Vector Assets
Using the Pen Tool and the Gradient Mesh Tool in Adobe Illustrator, I made some simple geometric shapes to populate my app. My goal was to add a pop of colour to an otherwise plain and minimalist UI for a sense of playfulness without looking too busy. When researching other Productivity Apps currently on the market, I found that they often use colours as a way for categorising tasks as a quick visual indicator. Additionally, most people are familiar with using apps like Google Calendar now, which is why dunnit’s colour scheme/UI is heavily inspired by this look. This will achieve improved ease of use and accessibility for new users.
Why the name "Dunnit"?
The name “dunnit” puts a spin on the well-known writing convention in detective fiction known as a “whodunnit”. This genre is known for its complex, mysterious and puzzling storylines… In real life, the average person is expected to flexibly juggle a neverending to-do list (whether its for the home and family, social, health and exercise, errands, etc). For this reason, I decided that this concept would be the perfect name for my app prototype.
