Mountainscapes
I have a special love for the landscapes of Canada. Being further north, the light hits a different way. The Kootenays are striking for their long, distinct mountain ranges with sharp horizontal features at the peaks, which also happen further south in the U.S., but in places that are drier, warmer, and further inland. The people I've met have been lovely, and quite very importantly, the EV charging was ample and got me home. This was the first time I was compelled to do landscape photography with a wide-angle lens, a Leica 21 f/3.4. South of the border, it was usually more appropriate to use my Canon 70-200 f/4, with my Laowa 28 f/1.2 as a backup.
If you do an EV road trip through Western Canada as a U.S. citizen, you should know that you can activate the Co-op chargers with the Shell Recharge app. That messed me up one time when I was in the tiny town of Maple Creek SK and the card reader was broken. The other networks – Electrify Canada, FLO, BC Hydro, Petro Canada and Chargepoint – are all decently reliable. In the U.S., Electrify America may have gotten some undeserved bad press, and EVGo usually works as well. Plugshare will tell you which chargers are working, and the FLO, Chargepoint and BC Hydro apps will also know if their own chargers are out-of-order, in-use, or under repair.
Thanks for watching
