Booklet
Mockup by MockupFree.com.
In this project, we were tasked to create a booklet from a talk from the most recent LDS general conference, focussing on using the grid system to create an engaging spread with a clear hierarchy. The talk I used, Brothers and Sisters in Christ by Ulisses Soares, had the imagery of a waterfall, so I decided to use that as my concept. Instead of framing my body copy rectangularly, I curved the text boxes to emulate the fluidity of a waterfall. This choice is unique and creates interest. Each spread is unique, which further creates interest and appeal in the reader. Hierarchy is created within the text by using a different weight and font for the subheadings and pull quotes. I also use the color yellow to separate the elements further, be that with lines or font color. Other simple graphic elements are used in the same way, as well as to create interest and further the concept.
