Wyatt F. Miehlisch Design Portfolio
An online portfolio showcasing my projects during my time at Western Technical College
STILL LIFE ILLUSTRATION
A project that I'm immensely proud of, I was tasked with faithfully recreating an object I own in Adobe Illustrator using various tools such as the pen and shapebuilder.
I learned a lot from this project, and really enjoyed my time working on it.
Left: My finished project. Right: The image I used
GAME DEVELOPMENT INFOGRAPHIC
An infographic poster about the process of game development.
Since gaming was the subject, i thought it would be cute to design it like a Super Mario World overworld map, taking elements from the game and vectorizing them to create something appealing.
I had a lot of fun designing this one, and am quite pleased with the final result.
PRODUCT REDESIGN
A mockup of a redesigned Oreo package.
A project that I'm very pleased with. I figured I should bring back a sort of "retro" look to the Oreo package, while still keeping the design familiar. The posterization of the images were made my accident, but in the end, I liked the way they looked, and it made them easier to work with, so I kept it in.
I even went as far as to remake the nutrition facts from scratch, just so that they match the aesthetic of the rest of the box.
I took plenty of liberties with this Oreo box, and I can easily say this is one of my finest works thus far.
GUNDERSEN ADVERTISEMENT
A short advert I created for Gundersen Health System.
I really tried my hardest to make this as professional as I can get it, with the usage of tweens for the transitions, and the most fitting stock footage I can find. My goal was to try and make it look like an actual advertisement you'd see on websites or mobile games.
I'm astonished at how well this came out, but having video editing experience from before really helped me out here. I also learned about brand guidelines, which really helps me narrow down my design choices to be closer to what clients are expecting.
BLACK HILLS MAP
A map I Illustrated of the Black Hills, South Dakota, since I have fond memories of a vacation there.
The goal was to try and make this look like a professional map that could actually be used by tourists.
Some more information could've probably been useful here, like sections on the side that give brief descriptions of the landmarks, but overall, I'm quite pleased with the final result.
TWO-SIDED FLYER
A two-sided flyer project I created for a mockup adoption center.
I wanted to stick with a cutesy them for this one, so I limited my palette to primarily pastel pinks, creams, and warm colors, in effort to create an inviting atmosphere.
It's amazing how effective simple shapes can be for a finished product.
