Nestled in the heart of Barcelona, the interior design project of Colapso Studio for the kids clothing brand Bobo Choses blends tradition with contemporary flair. Situated within an old fabrics store, TapicerĆas Gancedo, the project pays homage to the building's rich history, dated in 1894, while infusing it with modern sensibilities. One of the key challenges was preserving the architectural integrity of the faƧade and the iconic wood hangers, which are protected elements of the structure. Rather than viewing these features as constraints, they became the focal points around
which the design narrative unfolded. The design approach embraces the character of the old store, accentuating its traditional charm while introducing subtle yet striking elements of innovation. A blend of textures, materials, and colors breathes new life into the space, creating an ambiance that is both inviting and captivating. Careful attention was paid to lighting, allowing natural light to flood the interiors and showcase the architectural details, such as the original ceiling, while strategic placement of fixtures enhances the overall atmosphere. Inspired by Japanese design principles, the furniture throughout the store exudes a sense of minimalism tempered with warmth.Ā
