I have always been fascinated by the character of Emily/The Corpse Bride as imagined by Tim Burton. I wanted to recreate her with a more human feel. Here I have imagined her as just newly dead after being murdered by the man she loved, with whom she was going to run away to get married to. She has just realized that she was betrayed and now she sits smoking heart-brokenly in the Land of the Dead, smoking away in her wait for the next man who would be willing to marry her while longingly looking upwards at the Land of the Living.
