The subjects of female emancipation and the role of the woman are part of a discussion that had been present during the entirety of the Soviet period. This debate reflected directly in the ways of life and in architecture, especially in the relation of women and home. This research seeks to understand the association between housing development, the governmental guidelines on architecture and the conception of the role of the socialist women in Soviet Russia since the revolutions to the Khrushchev Government. For that, it aims to study how the transition between three main stages took place: the post-revolutionary period of the Vanguards, marked by social condensers and a legislation based on women emancipation; the Stalin Government period, noted by the emphasis on militarization and industrialization, the Socialist Realism as the government's official architectonic guideline and a legislation focused on the nuclear family; and at last, Khrushchev's Government Modernism, in which the mass post-war housing production and politics of "de-stalinization" happen. Thus, it tries to perceive the complexity of architectonical and social phenomena and its reflection on housing development, with emphasis on the women question and the ways of life.
