My Statement of Intent

The audience for my image set is consumers of social media and cookery blogs, across a range of ages and locations (and people on my course). I intend for the audience to feel amused, entertained, satisfied and informed by the images. I will use a comic book or animation type approach with colourful, engaging visuals as I have previously personally found such images to be impactful.

I will produce six food photographs using an animation/comic art style approach, depicting a clear narrative illustrating the making of a batch of delicious scones during the process from assembling the ingredients to serving the finished items, showing various stages of the process as a means of documenting it in a fun and colourful way.

I will capture the images during the hours of daylight using natural light from various perspectives in a square format to enable easy sharing on social media and to reinforce a comic book type feel. The images will be staged (and manipulated to an extent) to achieve a fun, bright, engaging, artistic narrative, where each image will show a stage in the process with a different LEGO® minifigure “helper”. My aim is to entertain my audience and capture the joy of creating through baking because it’s one of my favourite things to do.

I intend for viewers to find each of the images visually satisfying and to look forward to seeing the next one. I hope my images will be greeted with a smile.
