PSA Poster BYUI Art 235 Project 3

Public Service Announcement - BYU I Art 235 Project 3
Project 3 tasks us with making a set of three professional, print ad posters to promote a public service announcement.
A public service announcement, or PSA, is a message shared with the general public that raises awareness about an issue. Although most public service announcements have the over arching goal of informing their audience, a PSA may also serve to inspire the public to take action or make a change (indeed.com).
The first step will be to through the stages of research to find examples of printed ad posters.
Step two will be to gather visual elements that are appealing.  Next will be to brainstorm different ideas that will promote growth and change in our society. Following these steps we will sketch out our ideas and begin in our visual experiments. Afterward we will make digital compositions and refinements until we have our finished design.

Poster number 1. This poster displays a house shaped frame with a mountain scene photograph set inside. A Spiderplant illustration is placed in front to represent a houseplant. The illustrated white sparkles represent the air around the plant being cleaned.
I chose to produce an ad campaign for the general public. My emphasis was placed on working to make the air in our homes cleaner. I am passionate about both houseplants and cleanliness. This ad campaign combines both elements.
Poster number 2. This poster displays a house shaped frame with a tree line scene photograph set inside. A Peace Lily illustration is placed in front to represent a houseplant. The illustrated white sparkles represent the air around the plant being cleaned.
The mixture of photographic background and illustrated elements are used to create a conceptual design to capture the attention of the audience. The message conveyed is that you can bring fresh air (what we find when we are out in nature) into our homes by the simple step of keeping houseplants.
Poster number 3. This poster displays a house shaped frame with a Forest river scene photograph set inside. A Snake plant illustration is placed in front to represent a houseplant. The illustrated white sparkles represent the air around the plant being cleaned.
I choose an open, modern font that is easy to read for the title of my font. Each poster in the series has the same title and subtitle in the same font. The banner at the bottom with the information is located in the same place. These similarities show that these three posters are part of a series. The background pictures, illustrated plants and bottom banner colors vary in each poster. This shows the uniqueness of each poster, while maintaining that they belong together.
My purpose is to convey that we can all do one small thing to increase the air quality in our homes. Studies have shown that houseplants can reduce toxins in the air within our homes. By raising a houseplant we can all make our lives happier and healthier.
