PSA Campaign Poster Project
Project 3 Art 235
Project Description
The PSA campaign poster project consisted of a series of three, professional quality, print posters that will then be used as a Public Service Announcement print campaign. The posters are supposed to promote an important issue that affects individuals and communities. Each poster is supposed to be 11 x 17 inches and be portrait orientation. The main idea of the project was to choose one issue that you feel most passionate about and then design your strongest visual poster. The project was a series of three different posters. Each poster needed to be different but should be able to look similar enough that they look good as a set of three when side by side. The poster must include the AdCouncil Vector Logo, a headline, tagline, and URL as a call to action. The posters must be visually appealing and also make an impact on the viewer. The topic I chose to pick for my posters is self harm and my target audience is geared toward the youth.

PSA Poster A
In this poster I used the creative strategy called "Change of Context". I changed out the cuts on the arms for words to communicate to the viewer the how teens feel when they self harm. I also added the word "Hope" on the band-aid to show that there is hope to heal the wounds the teen feels. I added the Slogan "Hands that self harm need hands that care" to communicate that teens that self harm don't just need a good chat with their parents, they need other hands from a professional. I also added a tagline stating, "You can do it. Make the call" to help encourage teens to get help. I added a call to action by putting the information to call or text the number for help. I also used the colors black and orange to show the contrast between how teens feel they are in a dark place but there is hope from people that care.
PSA Poster B
In this poster I used the creative strategy called "Material Swap" and "Isolation". I swapped out the cuts on the girls hands for the word "HELP" to show that teens with self harm problems need help to be able to overcome their addiction.  I also isolated the girl from anything else in the poster to show that she is the main focus and also to show that teens that self harm feel alone. This poster I used the slogan, "Hands that harm need hands that care", to also show that teens that harm themselves can find people that can help them. I added a tagline that reads,"You are not alone. Help is here. Send the text." to show the teens that they are not alone and they can get help really easy by just sending a quick text. I also added the call to action which is the website and phone number. I also used the colors blue and white to contrast between sadness and hope.
PSA Poster C
In this poster I used the creative strategy called, "Material Swap". I swapped out the heart and added a phone into the heart. I also swapped out cuts for the words, "I need help". I put two different hands making the heart phone to show that the teens need someone else to help them through their pain and together through the phone call that help can be had. In this poster I added some statistics about self harm to show teens how real this problem is but there is hope by calling the number. I added the slogan, "Hands that hurt need hands that care". I also added a tagline that says, "If you self harm don't wait. Help is a text away." I also used colors to show the contrast between what teens feel and how they can get help and feel better. I used black and blue and then white and orange to show this.
