Casa da Música Poster

This project was done while attending illustration classes. The task given to students consisted in designing a (fake) poster for a concert to be hosted at Casa da Música, at Porto. The selection of the band or artist was chosen completely by our taste, we just had to focus on the event program already released by Casa da Música, and choose an upcoming show. So, my pick was a concert, which was given at May 27th by multi-instrumentalist Ólafur Arnalds and composer Rodrigo Leão.
After studying the branding, graphic material and imagery released by Casa da Música, I decided to experiment with some lettering styles. Since this was assigned at Illustration class, I made some rough drawings with watercolor and markers, trying different compositions and calligraphy types.
For the background ended up choosing a photograph that I felt was suitable for the type of music those two artists make, so I picked an underwater photograph I took with a disposable camera. This image of a girl floating underwater reflects (literally) calm and peaceful feelings (at least to me), the same happens when listening to classical music. The effects applied were made to give a more abstract, maybe even hypnotic impression.
After scanning these images it was time to start building the poster, mixing the type with the photograph. Here are some color experiences which led to the final result:
After several experiments, these were the final ones. Yes, there are three posters since I couldn't decide what colour I liked the most. Yet, I guess they all work well together, so this is a poster with three different versions.
