Musical family story V PERINE (THE MAGICAL DUVET) in 3D stereoscopy. Postproduction and VFX realized by studio ACE POST (SPOON Praha). I worked on this project about a year.

Fairy tale V Peřině, directed and filmed by Frantisek Brabec, was a big experience with real 3D stereoscopic film, which combined life action with CGI 3D environment. (watch studio breakdown HERE)

At the beginning my task was to create a design of a fairy tale world of dreams inside a duvet. After reading a script I created several environment designs in combination with actors. I covered the main location town Pisek in my designs by dreamy duvets.

My inspiration was a classical quilted blanket, patchworks and child theme - contrast of girl toys and toys for boys. After presenting and approving the designs the realization started.

In the (post)production phase we (team of 3D animators/graphics) realized many VFX scenes. The creation of the movie itself was complicated  because of the format "3D" (stereoscopy). Real scenes were filmed by a real set of (3D stereo-rig) two cameras. So we worked with 3D (stereo) materials in the postproduction.

 Intensive communication, working in the filming space to get material and a close collaboration with the director gave us both complicated and funny moments. In the last phase the visual design of dreamy locations moved somewhere else than I thought in my original concept and it concerned mainly the colours. The Magical Duvet is the first 3D (stereoscopic) full length movie in the Czech republic.
