Dageraad

Dageraad Brewing
Branding and packaging for a Belgian-style craft brewery

After a yeast-fueled pilgrimage that had him returning repeatedly to Antwerp’s Dageraadplats, Dageraad Brewings’s founder returned to British Columbia to open the Belgian-style craft brewery, named after the historic public square.

Dageraad in Flemish means “dawn”, a theme that became central to the brand’s world, with recurring motifs representing the passage between night and day, and the cyclic celestial pursuit of moon and sun. The brand draws on broad historical influences, from the elegance of Art Nouveau to the charming simplicity of turn-of-the-century Dutch advertising.

The visual identity is designed to be wide-ranging and playful, taking inspiration from early graphic arts, where emphasis was placed more on the artfulness of individual elements rather than the strict systematization of the whole. The result is a rich, abundant brand world in which surprises can still be found in the details.
