This is one of my favorite illustrations from my portfolio. I really like how the Gold shines out when put on a black background. It was a huge “light bulb” moment for me when one of my professors told me that in order to get the most out of this “shining gold” effect, I could put my gold object in a dark background to make it stand out.
This makes a lot of sense because the lighter local value of the object contrasts well against the dark value of the black background.
