Word of God Stands Forever

Typography Practice
This assignment was to create a type design with a quote and limited colors and typefaces. The main focus of this project was creating contrast and flow with the principles of design. My chosen quote was Isaiah 40:8 "The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of God stands forever." I chose a soft blue for the first half of the text to emphasize the words "wither" and "fade." Low contrast, with a cool color, created a text that could convey the softness and fickleness of nature mentioned in the Bible. The second half of the verse uses bold red and strong all caps to emphasize the message of the firm foundation of the Word of God. God's Word is not fickle nor does it fade. It stands strong among culture and chaos. Red created a strong contrast that could convey and communicate such a message to the audience. The alignment was based on a grid structure to create a cohesive design. Overall, this exercise was another simple design utilizing the power of type and color.
