The Gardener's Year

The Gardener's Year, by Karel Čapek
Bachelor Degree thesis project: design of a visual book.
A visual book offers the reader an amplified reading experience.
The Gardener's Year is a novel about the author's great passion, gardening,
and tells his adventures and misadventures in the garden, throughout a whole year.
That's why my visual book presents itself as an agenda - Čapek’s diary - combining narration with 1929 calendar (year of publication) and the author’s notes.
The book is divided into 12 sections, one for each month of the year, which start with
seasonal illustrations. The watercolour pictures are inspired by paper cut tradition
and a paper cut bookmark is attached to the volume.
