With 15 years of working with clients to create textbooks and other educational materials, infographic flyers and event posters utilizing Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, I'm sure I can design your next Game UI. Personal Project - RPG Character Creation and Adventure Tavern
I copied World of Warcraft format style of races on the left, character in the middle and class on the right. Proportions and spacings are the key. Background gives interest.
The Adventure Tavern is where the player can buy/sell food and supplies as well as hire companions. Notice the before and after screen modes during the hiring mode. The hiring mode screen allows the player to remain immersed in the realm but not get distracted by the lively colors of the background. Like in real life your mind ignores everything else except your friends.
