Understanding Form & Aesthetics



For the Form & Aesthetics course, guided by Prof. Sabhyasachi Paldas, we explored the realms of 2D and 3D by first starting with dots to planes, then 2 and a half D to 3 Dimensional forms and finally to forms that solve a purpose.

The step-by-step learning and understanding led to great insights. Following are some of the exercises attempted by me below-

To represent the following antonyms using same sized dots- (Left column to right column)

To represent an audio queue using dots and circles. The audio used here was The Lonely Shepherd by André Rieu ft. Gheorghe Zamfir

The keywords I used were- (L-R) Winter Sun, Sour Punch & Citrus Peel

The sport I chose was swimming, The keywords are- Soulful, Tranquil & Profound.

To Design a 3D form out of blocks, that are balanced directionally.

To Design a product with either Square, triangle or circle that has aesthetic/ functional or entertainment purpose.

I designed a magnetically secured Book organizer, keeping in mind a library environment.
Throughout the length of the course, it made me realize the role and importance that each dot or line plays in a Design.
