The parent-child relationship has a vital bond that can be damaged due to external factors that makes the child distant from the parents. 
When one parent turns the child against the other parent, it gives rise to parental alienation, and the relationship between them is destroyed. 
If you are such a parent, you wonder when to give up on an alienated child. The parent tries to cut every barrier to connect with his/her child. But, there are circumstances when you realize your efforts mean nothing.
It is wise to weigh all alternatives when you are unsure whether to give up on an alienated child. Keep in mind, the relationship evolves through time but sometimes becomes tough to maintain contact.
