How can we incorporate new solar technologies into a building to reduce our carbon footprint and provide knowledge of these technologies to benefit the community? By taking into considerations the factors of weather that impacts a city like Toronto such as: latitude of the sun during different times of the year, the amount of sunlight Toronto get on an annual basis, the urban heat island effect, and CO2 emissions. Researching ways to combat these effects on the built environment, incorporating them into an educational facility and providing insight and knowledge to the general public was the main goal of the New Solar Technologies Exhibition Building.
