iTVC - "The Bottle's Candied Calamansi"
"The Bottle's Candied Calamansi" was a 3-month commission to create a digital commercial for The Bottle, a small snack brand in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The brief was to target post - Lunar New Year's purchasing wave of students- thus the decision to emphasize traditional Tet imageries in the ad.
The team and I also developed a short storyline to make the commercial more captivating, while also communicating the unique selling point of the product: it's a snack that also helps with stomach problems - basically medicinal.
I was involved in this project as camera operator, visual effects artist, and sound designer. Because the task was assigned to a small team, I was also in equipment wrangling and logistics.

A solidview draft of the CGI components, which I rendered after consulting the storyboard. This was approved by the client.
VISUAL EFFECTS & COMPOSITING
Originally, the brief did not call for visual effects compositing. However, production design issues occurred, and the intended practical set did not look good on camera.
Obviously, it was impossible to just leave the studio background in the shot. And because we did not plan for this, the lack of greenscreen and the cinema-grade shutter angle provided a massive challenge in rotoscoping. Below are my results.
