Oil on paper
16” x 24”

I’ve been thinking about going beyond the conventions of modern portraiture. I started with a personal making method – rubbing oil paint on glass plate to make portraitures, then I press the surface to make transfers prints on card stocks. This process is also revealed in the final portraits as we can see the air bubbles from the action of pressing. I also focused on rich coloring and rhythm to create an uplifting aesthetic. This portrait series are of my parents.
