Sometimes I think that street photography is my true path to what photography can be in my life. I feel proud of these photos I took when I was only working out how to use a film camera. Maybe I am proud not because they are "amazing" but that they didn't suck, knowing my lack of confidence with exposing back then. That's why I have some "duplicates", where I took the first photo but knew it could be better or wasn't confident enough to be sure that the exposure was right. My first reel I used the digital camera to expose. With this one, I was just using the faith that my eyes would read the amount of light properly. It was a good exercise. I miss the freedom of walking in the street with an old camera and stealing moments of people. Just like a strange Robin Hood, taking treasured instants of people to share with the world (meaning, share with the few that acknowledge me on the vast sea of internet). I love everything about analog, in this case, I love how light is perceived by the emulsion, how it glows, how texture becomes more crisp or soft, how the shadows becomes lines and drawings. More than vain, careless, countless clicks of a cellphone, analog photography carries a weight of holding a piece of history. Eerie and marvellous. Even if it is a history only for my vain pleasure.
Thank you!
