Minhocão is São Paulo's 3.5 kilometres long elevated highway that connects the central area with the west zone of the city. Despite its construction helped the traffic flow, it devalued the residential area and changed drastically the urban landscape of the heart of São Paulo.
As an attempt to bring life and humanize the area, we repurposed Minhocão as an elevated park and developed its visual project.
Currently the highway closes for automotive transports on weekends. Observing the use of the space on these days, we saw different types of activities, including walking and jogging during the day, picnics and meet ups in the afternoons, and skate rides and projected movies at nights.
To visualize elevated parks concepts, we looked for references in High Line and projects that included vertical gardens and visual design in paved soils.
