As the door gently opens on the evening of the Mid-Autumn Festival, a sense of anticipation fills the room. We gather together, young and old, to welcome the moon's soft glow and share in its timeless magic. It's a time for stories, laughter, and cherished moments with family and friends. As we gaze up at the luminous sky, we feel connected to generations past who also marveled at this celestial spectacle. And as we pass around plates of delicious mooncakes, each bite is imbued with the warmth of tradition and the joy of togetherness. With hearts full of gratitude, we embrace the simple beauty of this tradition, finding joy in each other's company and the gentle presence of the moon above.

With the desire to narrate a nostalgic and classic story while still conveying the delicate and elegant beauty of lacquer material, I drew inspiration from the image of moonlight penetrating through wooden doors alongside shimmering light for this project.

I implemented the idea by combining storytelling and functionality:
- Customers open the cake box and “welcoming the moon” - through a wooden door, shaped from classic-style door panels.
- Inside the box is a golden moon; after using up the cake, it can be reused as a candlelight box, the candlelight shining on the moon will create a sparkling effect.
- The cake layers can be easily removed using a sliding tray.
- On top, there’s a smoke-cut hole, both shaping the box and serving as a smoke outlet when burning candles.
