The Chapel of the Holy Cross hike

The Chapel of the Holy Cross
in Sedona, Arizona is a Roman Catholic chapel. Built into the red rock buttes, it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. The chapel has been a place of prayer, reflection, and spiritual contemplation for visitors from around the world. Its location high atop the red rocks adds to its serene and awe-inspiring ambiance. The Chapel of the Holy Cross is renowned for its stunning design, which seamlessly integrates with the natural beauty of Sedona. Inside, you’ll find relics of the Twelve Apostles and an opportunity to light a candle in memory of a loved one. Whether you’re seeking solace, marveling at the architecture, or simply enjoying the panoramic views, this sacred space leaves an indelible impression on all who visit.
First view of the chapel from the hiking trail.
Most visitors drive to the Chapel. As one can see from the photograph above, parking is limited.
If you decide to hike, the trail starts at the Little Horse trailhead parking area.  The last .7 miles are designated as black diamond (Advanced Hiker) trail leading to the Chapel by the Coconino National Forest Ranger District.
