Agostamiento
site specific exhibition at Matadero Madrid (2016)
project developed as a member of Basurama collective
Agostamiento is designed for the space Abierto x Obras in Matadero Madrid.

It’s a site specific installation made from a selection of 7000 sunflowers planted in the summer of 2016 in one of the main avenues of Ensanche de Vallecas in Madrid, a neighborhood known for being planned through corrupted politics and lacking cohesion, community and other key characteristics for public space in a residential area.

The project aims to create a giant urban garden where neighbours get involved and take care, building community and creating a quality public space for all of them to get together. Sunflowers are harvested and their seeds shared between all us and the neighbours on the opening day of the exhibition in Matadero Madrid.
Phase I:
Plow the land, plant the seeds, water and irrigate.
Take care of the growing sunflowers through community.
Harvest and collect,
separate the flower from the seeds.

Phase II:
Prepare the space for the exhibition, hang the collected sunflowers.
Draw the narrative to tell the story, videoinstallation,
introducing the neighborhood, site specific installation.
Sharing the harvested seeds in the opening day.
