Keilisnes is a spit of land between the coves Flekkuvik and Kalfatjorn. On the Cairn Mound near the old main road stands a cairn called Stefansvarda. This spot offers an excellent panoramic view over the Faxi Bay.

"Outside Hvassahraun on the Reykjanes peninsula, inside of Vatnsleysuvík is a small cove called Flekkuvík. A farm of the same name stands at the bottom of the bay. There in the meadow is a small hill or large mound, called Flekka-leiði, and on top of that lays a lava stone with runic letters. It says: "Flekka rests here".
Legend says that Flekka was a settler, came from Flekkufjörður and somewhat related to Ingólfur Arnarson, coming from the same area as him. Ingólfur first got her a home in Kjós where she built a farm and it is still called Flekkudalur, named after her. She was a wise and far-sighted woman, but not very popular. She did not want to live in Kjósinn, because she could not see the sea from her farm. She then moved west to Vatnsleysuströnd and built a farm there by a deserted bay.
The cove has since been named after her and called Flekkuvík and the farm got the same name. At that time it was a remote place where the bay was surrounded by apal lava in three ways, but in the bay itself was a good landing spot and a lot of fish was usually close to land. However, sealing the bay was dangerous if not done correctly. That's why, before she died, Flekka suggested that she should be buried at the top of the field, in front of the open sealing route. She so commanded that a ship should never perish there in the right channel, while something was seen from its haul. People have believed in this ever since.

Flekkuvíkland extends by sea from Keilisnes in the west – to Klukku in the east.
There used to be duplex Farmhouses in Flekkuvík, but now the land has been deserted since 1959.
