Made by Gus!
The idea for crafting these disc-like art pieces stemmed from my deep desire to carve out a distinct identity for my nascent business endeavor, Made by Gus. I envisioned these pieces as more than mere decorations; they were to serve as the cornerstone of a unique branding strategy, one that not only drew attention but also embodied the very essence of craftsmanship and creativity that lies at the heart of my brand. This project represented a fusion of artistry and practicality, aimed at producing branding elements that were not only visually striking but also left a lasting impression on anyone who looked at them.
Steps Taken:
Design Conceptualization: Brainstorming came easier than most days, exploring various design concepts that could effectively communicate the essence of Made by Gus. Through this process, I used Canva and Inkscape to figure out ways to include different fonts and styles of drawing.
Prototyping: I swiftly translated design concepts into physical prototypes, experimenting with different fonts and sizes to find the perfect fit for our branding décor pieces. After testing out different fonts and eliminating excess laser cuts, I was finally ready to produce.
Material Selection: I selected materials such as plywood and acrylic sheets. These materials not only offered durability but also provided a canvas for creativity, allowing me to bring our branding vision to life. On the bright side, I had a ton of different circles cut out from producing a King's Crown that I was able to use all my excess materials so they wouldn't go to waste!
I used foamcore to cut out a few frames that allowed me to etch on multiple pieces at the same time!
I then glued acrylic to create a glossy top layer and a nice finish to the wood.
