Andrey is a type designer from Eastern Siberia and a serial poster on the platform! His Type Ideas are really original while showing great technical skills. He is now working on some projects with the Fontyou team, such as the Cyrillic version of Achille FY!

 

We asked him a few questions about typography and creation.

_Which designer inspires you the most? 

 

Yuri Gordon. Although I never met this famous Russian designer in real life, I consider him like my teacher.

His works always inspire me.

 

_What is your fetish creation tool?

 

My favorite tool is CorelDRAW. Lately, I like to draw with whiteboard markers because it can be easily erased.

I am looking for such a wide-nib marker to mimic a calligraphy pen.. 

 

_What is your favorite font?

 

This is a very difficult question. I just need a few seconds to fall in love with a font! I like the fonts created by the new generation of Ukrainian and Belarusian talented designers. Their works have a deep rethinking of the old Cyrillic handwriting. But probably, one of my most favorite font is Leksa Sans. The poster from the book «Alive typography» by Alexandra Korolkova is made with tis font. This poster is on my wall and I look at it every day. «Don’t be lazy» is written on it.

 

_What are your 3 darling projects on the Fontyou platform?

 

If I have to choose from my Type Ideas, I think that the most promising are Elegia, Dumbbell and Sophistica.

My darling Fontyou’s fonts are Kraaken FY, Suzee FY and Vanille FY.
