Disruptive Innovation in Public Services

Disruptive Innovation in Public Services
This was a three week long project in which I was partnered up with a classmate to redesign the recommendation system in public libraries.

It started with some brainstorming. Through class, we learned of divergent scenario axes which helped organize our ideas. By plotting two elements of the project on different axes, it help me and my partner brainstorm more specifically.
We then took our best ideas and analyzed their attributes before finally landing on Judge a Book by its Cover.
We then fleshed out our idea along with some visual iteration.
From there it was just a matter of drawing our idea out and presenting it.
Judge a Book by its Cover is a recommendation system consisting of a series of different doors that all represent a specific genre. Each can hold a collection of books that fall under that genre along with a QR code that contains a list of more media. On a timely basis, books can be swapped out and changed.
To aid in accessibility, children friendly books are closer to the ground and the more adult targeted genres are higher. There's also a button to call for assistance.

This was our presentation.
